This course from Belka Productions, running over 4 evenings Monday – Thursday, introduces the actor to The Vakhtangov Technique and its key principles through a series of individual and group exercises focusing on imagination and justification. The work will be permeated with a number of Vakhtangovian concepts.
Actors will be guided through an exciting mix of exercises, and encouraged to enter a creative environment where any act of expression is possible. During the course, actors will strengthen their internal and external flexibility and develop the habit of always expressing oneself physically on stage. Perfecting this will enable the actor to heighten internal freedom, fully justify artistic creations, and execute them fearlessly with absolute belief.
The course is taught by Oleg Mirochnikov, who trained as an actor at the Belorussian Academy of Theatre and Arts in Minsk, and performed extensively in film, stage and TV in his native country before coming to Western Europe in 1991. As a Theatre Director and Acting Coach, he has worked throughout UK and Europe, drawing equally from the three great masters of Russian stage: Stanislavski, Meyerhold and Vakhtangov. Over the years Oleg has been involved in a variety of research projects with a particular interest in the Vakhtangov technique. He has taught in a number of leading drama schools including Drama Centre and RADA, and has worked on numerous films and stage productions, with recent credits including X-Men: First Class and World War Z. He is the joint artistic director of Belka Productions.
