The witty and insightful lawyer and political philosopher Vladimir Pastoukhov in the third in a series of talks at Pushkin House about the Russian state.  This evening, he talks to human rights lawyer Samantha Knights about Russian Legal institutions.  Talk and Q&A, followed by drinks. In English.

Vladimir Pastukhov is a Fellow of St Anthony’s College Oxford and Advisor to the Chair of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation.  He is a member of the International Bar Association, Professor of Corporate Law at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow and Member of the Russian Academy of Humanitarian Sciences.  He has advised the State Duma on Economic Development and Intellectual Property, and Moscow City Government on social policy.

 

 

 

Samantha Knights is a barrister at Matrix practising in public law (including immigration and prison law); commercial law and arbitration. She has acted on a number of cases concerning Russia and the CIS including Zatuliveter (deportation of an alleged Russian spy); commercial proceedings of a large Russian telecommunications company in Bermuda; and commercial arbitration under Kazakh law. She also acts as a consultant to the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre which assists CIS lawyers bringing cases to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
