Bloomsbury Festival Studio Theatre: 'Resurrection'

Resurrection is a short piece based on Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment and the love poetry of the 13th century Persian poet Jalaluddin Rumi.  When two wretched people meet by chance, he decides to reveal to her the great secret he has harboured for so long. Their destinies miraculously intertwine, their sufferings combine, and they set off together on the road which opens up before them. What are they searching for, and will they find it?  What is the purpose of suffering in this life and is the answer at the end worth the struggle on the way? ‘Suffering is germane to our existence. Indeed, without it, how should we be able to fly upwards?’ Andrei Tarkovsky.

Adapted and directed by Natasha Sotra.
