These songs are known and loved by everybody in Russia and abroad. A number of highly talented composers and poets were among their authors, and no Soviet family get-together could pass without these songs being sung by all of the guests. The message of these songs is one entirely generated by the war, but at the forefront of them – not the war, but the world that they are supposed to save is celebrated.
