Alexei Venediktov: how to use a nationalist historical narrative to sustain political power

Who better to analyse and reflect on the uses and abuses of political power than the high-profile Editor-in-Chief of the essential Ekho Moskvy radio station?

Alexei Alexeevich Venediktov has been at Ekho Moskvy since 1990, as Editor-in-Chief since 1996, and President of Ekho TV Russia since 2002.  Previously, since graduating from the evening course at Moscow State Pedagogical University in 1978, he had taught history at School No. 875, also in Moscow.  His numerous honours include the Golden Pen; the Artyom Borovik Prize; the Medal of the Order for Services to the Fatherland (II) - for services to radio; Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur (France).

In the chair for the evening will be Victor Balagadde.

Victor has been editor of Kommersant UK since 2009. Previously, he was a columnist for New Style Magazine, and editor of Kahrkosky Kurier.  From 1994-2000 he was the radio presenter of the first FM Radio station in Kharkov, Master Radio 100,5 FM / Europa+.

Victor was born in St Petersburg and graduated from Kharkov Medical University (Ukraine).
