2017 marks 100 years since the Russian Revolution of 1917, which changed people’s values, affected culture and made an impact on Russian heritage worldwide. Join the Russian Community Association for a special event sharing emigre stories after a panel discussion including first, second and third generation emigres from different walks of life including artists, entrepreneurs and journalists.

As part of our season of events related to our pavilion - 101st km Further Everywhere, by Alexander Brodsky, that looks at the theme of creativity in exile following the 1917 revolution, Pushkin House is hosting a get together for Russians living in London today, to get together and share their experiences of moving here, or being born here to emigre parents.

A panel discussion will be followed by an open session where everyone can share their story. The panel will include those whose memories go back to the first Russian diaspora in London such as Larisa Salmina-Haskell, an extraordinary lady who survived the Leningrad blockade and who is also responsible for putting together a Russian collection at the Ashmolean Museum. Other speakers include award-winning artist Sergei Pavlenko. There will also be those who left the Soviet Union at the time of the Fall of the Berlin Wall and those who are part of the latest wave of migration.
