SOLD OUT: PUSHKIN HOUSE WINE CLUB - WINES OF EUROPE IN THE TIME OF IVAN TURGENEV

WINES OF EUROPE IN THE TIME OF IVAN TURGENEV

Devoted to 200 Years of His Birth (9 November 1818 – 3 September 1883)

Ivan Turgenev spent half of his life abroad in Western Europe, first studying in Germany then living in Baden-Baden and in Paris, staying as close as possible to his life-long love, Pauline Viardot. He also travelled extensively throughout Europe. His love of good food and wine is well documented. The pride he felt when an outstanding meal was served at his home at a party was mentioned and lauded by many of his friends. They all knew that his favourite wine was Champagne Roederer, but he loved other wines, too, and was exposed to many different styles of wines in Germany, France, Switzerland and, surprisingly, in England, too. We’ll talk about Turgenev’s travels and taste the styles of wines he would have drunk or served to his friends when he stayed in the great wine regions of Europe and beyond.

So come and find out all about Turgenev and his taste in wine at THE PUSHKIN HOUSE WINE CLUB on Thursday, the 8th November, 19.00-21.00. And as usual, someone will go home with a prize wine after winning the mini-quiz.
