Yellow Fields, Blue Skies: Art Sale for Ukraine

  • 5a Bloomsbury Square London London, England, United Kingdom (map)

Work by Sergiy Barchuk

Pushkin House and a group of creatives based in London have initiated an evening sale of art editions to unite people with the common goal of supporting those who have had to leave their homes because of the war in Ukraine. The event is happening in collaboration with artists based in different places who all have one thing in common – they want to come together and unite in a moment of crisis.

The selection has been curated by Turkina Faso; over 30 works will be exhibited with prices starting from £30.

All profits from artwork sales will go to a Warsaw-based community project supporting women and children who have fled the war. The event organisers know the people behind this project personally and decided to donate to them because, among other things, they use art therapy as a tool to support families who have fled from Ukraine.

The prints will be exhibited at Pushkin House on Tuesday 29 March, and the music will be provided by a multidisciplinary artists’ collective, fetchish_net (DJ set), and Respair (live).

About the charity

Help women and children from Ukraine: support the initiative directly

“The purpose of this fund is to support the thousands of women and children who have been forced to flee their homes as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Our aim is to help with accommodation and relocation of displaced Ukrainian families into Europe, alongside working to meet the wider wellbeing needs of the women and children.

We are focusing our efforts in four main directions:

  1.  Help displaced families from Ukraine find accommodation in Europe and assist in acquiring documents to enter and settle in the UK, as well as provide them with the basic necessities from the start of their journey.

  2. Offer therapeutic support for mothers, helping them to explain the current situation to their children and care for them through this difficult time. Leading this initiative is Mariana Eiger, a Russian-speaking Israeli clinical psychologist.

  3. Organise face to face children's activities (languages, arts, crafts etc.) for the Ukrainian community in the Bielany borough of Warsaw, with teachers both based in Poland and visiting from all over the world. Leading this initiative is Elena Holosiy, a Poland-based Ukrainian filmmaker and mother of three with vast experience in working with children of different ages.

  4. Create a safe online space for the support and development of children which is available to access from any location, via an online calendar and telegram channel. This initiative will be led by Ksenia Gorenstein.

The campaign is initiated by Inna Schorr and Nina Weinstein.”
