Music for Peace Concert in Support of Ukraine

Russian-born classical musicians come together to send a message of support and solidarity to all the people of Ukraine. This is a charity event: all the proceeds from the concert will go to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal in support of Ukrainian refugees and displaced families.

Programme to include music by Mozart, Chopin, Zimbalist, Shostakovich and Rachmaninov.

This is an in-person only event. Doors open at 7.30pm, and the concert begins at 8pm.

All money raised will go directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee: DEC launched a Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal to raise funds for food, water, medicine, protection and trauma care for people fleeing the war. At times of crisis, the DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities (including the British Red Cross, Cafod, Care International and Save the Children UK) to raise funds quickly and efficiently. Every pound donated by the UK public to the DEC will be matched by the government, up to the value of £20m. You can donate directly here

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Tatiana Chernyshova – cello
London-based Tatiana Chernyshova is a Russian-born British cellist, combining solo, chamber and orchestral playing. She performs internationally, with UK highlights including Barbican, Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Royal Albert Hall.

Presently she appears as a freelance player with London Contemporary Orchestra with whom she tours internationally, records soundtracks to films such as The Matrix, and performs with artists including Max Richter, Eric Clapton and Clark.

As a member of Stella string quartet, Tatiana made her debut at the Wigmore Hall in 2014. Her festival appearances include performances with Yuri Rozum at Kensington Palace, Stockhausen’s Gruppen with London Sinfonietta in Southbank Centre, and many more.

Elena Kiseleva – piano
Pianist Elena Kiseleva has won numerous awards and performed extensively throughout the UK (including Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall), Europe and in Russia. She has participated in prestigious festivals such as the ‘Moscow Autumn’ Festival in Russia, Aurora Festival in Sweden and Santander Festival in Spain.

In addition to her solo performances Elena plays with chamber groups, as an accompanist and in contemporary music ensembles. She has performed with such musicians as Zakhar Bron, Felix Renggli and Sebastian Comberti. Elena also composes, and her work ‘Day Poem’ for flute and piano was published by P. Jurgenson Music Publishing House. Elena completed her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in piano performance at the Royal Academy of Music (London).

Anna Kondrashina – flute
Russian flautist Anna Kondrashina has won prizes at several prestigious competitions in Japan and China. She was recently awarded the Worshipful Company of Musicians Silver Medal in the UK.

In 2018 Anna was invited to join the London Philharmonic Foyle Future Firsts Development Programme and the Philharmonia MMSF Instrumental Fellowship Programme, followed by an offer to join the Philharmonia Orchestra as the Associate Flute of the orchestra for season 2021/22.

Apart from her exciting career as a modern flautist, Anna has a very keen interest in historical performance. She has appeared with various baroque ensembles around the world, and regularly appears at notable baroque music festivals, such as Utrecht Early Music Festival and MA Festival in Brugge, Belgium.

Anna Ovsyanikova – violin
Russian-born British violinist Anna Ovsyanikova made her international solo debut in Germany performing Vivaldi and Haydn violin concertos at the age of 16.

Anna has established a reputation as a soloist, having won several international competitions and performing concertos with Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra, and Dinu Lipatti Philharmonic in Romania, among many others. As a recitalist and chamber musician she has performed in venues including Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and Birmingham Town Hall, to name a few.

A dedicated orchestral leader, she has led all Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Academy Symphony orchestras, and has led orchestras conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, Andris Nelson and Martyn Brabbins amongst others. She has co-led under Semyon Bychkov, Leif Segerstam and accompanied soloists including Mitsuko Uchida, Jonas Kaufmann and Natalia Gutman.

Pavel Timofeyevsky – piano
Pianist and composer Pavel Timofeyevsky, has performed at major concert venues worldwide and gives regular lecture-recitals for the Kensington Music Society in London. Winner of the BBC/Guardian Young Composer of the Year Award, he conducted a world premiere of his orchestral work, The Questors Suite, at Cadogan Hall. He has composed music for several films, and recorded the soundtrack for and starred in the US documentary Tchaikovsky. A keen educator, Pavel is founder and director of the Philomel Music Academy. He is also the artistic director of the Philomel Project Concert Series, in residence at the Francis Crick Institute, London.

Recent touring highlights include making his Los Angeles debut as a soloist and a conductor with the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra and performing in South Africa and Kenya. In England Pavel collaborated with the Solem Quartet for a series of live music to film performances and has released an album of chamber music by Hans Gal with Ensemble Burletta for the Toccata Classics label.
