Socials at Pushkin House: November 2023, Hosted by Prof Sarah Wilson

Join us on 2 November for the next Social at Pushkin House. Taking place on the first Thursday of each month at our bar, the Socials are hosted by prominent cultural figures, activists, authors and others, who will bring you a varied and engaging evening. Our November Social is led by art historian and curator Professor Sarah Wilson.

The event is open to all but registration is required.

The bar opens at 6pm with happy hour on all cocktails till 7:30pm and 50% discount all evening for Friends of Pushkin House.

Sarah Wilson is Professor of of Modern and Contemporary art at The Courtauld, University of London. She published The Visual World of French Theory: Figurations, (Yale University Press, 2010; French edition: 2018) and Picasso/Marx and Socialist Realism in France (Liverpool University Press, 2013). She was principal curator of Paris, Capital of the Arts, 1900-1968  (Royal Academy London, Guggenheim Bilbao, 2002-3) and Pierre Klossowski, Whitechapel Art Gallery, 2006. She is currently preparing an anthology of her writings on over thirty women artists, entitled SHE+ART.

Sarah first travelled to the USSR in 1981 and has visited regularly, last to the opening of GES–2 in Moscow in December 2021. She has supervised several theses on Russian art and published on artists Oleg Kulik, Alexander Ponomarev and Semyon Fabisovich (State Tretyakov Gallery, 2019). Sarah Wilson was appointed Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1997 and she was awarded the AICA (International Association of Art Critics) prize in 2015.
