Students of the Royal College of Music Play Russian Chamber Music

Founded in 1882, Royal College of Music is one of London’s oldest conservatories. Three of its current students present a programme of duets and a trio, which include rarely performed Russian composers Arensky and Glazunov.

Violinist Carolina Blaskovic was born into a musical family and graduated from the Royal College of Music, London. She is currently studying for Master of Music course at the same institution with Mark Messenger, Emily Sun and Alexander Gilman and is generously sponsored by the Frankopan Fund, Albert Cooper Music Charitable Trust, the Zetland Foundation and the Hockerill Educational Foundation.

As a soloist, she maintains a busy performing schedule with the upcoming performances at recognised venues including the Pushkin House, St. Olave’s Church and Italian Cultural Institute. She has recently performed at venues throughout the UK including the Regent Hall, V&A Museum, Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall, Routh Hall, Apsley House, Charlton House, NPL Musical Society, St. Clement Danes Church, Church of St. Olave, St. Mary’s Church, Battersea, Waltham Abbey, St. Stephen's Church, St. Mary Abbots Church, All Saints Parish Church, High Wycombe, United Reformed Church, Purley.

Carolina has also performed as soloist at international prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, The Grand Concert Hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi, The Mimara Museum (Croatia), Crystal Hall (Slovenia). In 2016, she was invited to perform Elgar’s Violin Sonata at the Rector’s Palace (Dubrovnik).  In 2015 she appeared with internationally recognised ensemble ‘Zagreb Soloists’ performing Winter from Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi. At the age of four she gave her first public performance and at the age of eight she made her concerto debut in the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb. Since then, she has continued to perform regularly as a solo artist and her future engagements include several international competitions and solo performances across the UK and Croatia.

As an active chamber musician, she recently performed Messiaen’s Quartet for the end of time at the Royal College of Music. She is regularly performing as a member of various chamber groups including the piano quintet and trio with clarinet and horn. She was a member of piano trio performing works by Beethoven and Rachmaninov in recognised venues such as Croatian Music Institute and the National Library. She has performed Schumann’s piano quartet in St. Mary Abbots Church in 2017 and Mozart’s g-minor string quintet during The Thinking Musician summer course in Italy (2018). She is a passionate performer of music for duo violin and piano and regularly collaborates with pianists such as Kumi Matsuo, JP Ekins, Maria Tarasewicz and Jennifer Hughes. Carolina’s future chamber music engagements include performances of violin – piano – clarinet trios in London as well as Piano Quintet by Weinberg.

Carolina has performed in masterclasses for internationally renowned musicians including Victor Tretiakov, Natalia Likhopoi, Alina Ibragimova, Anna Kandinskaya, Vasko Vassilev, Goran Koncar, Adam Korniszewski and Michael Vaiman.

From an early age, Carolina has won numerous awards in national and international competitions. In 2017, she won a first prize at American Protégé International Piano and String Competition and in 2019 she was invited to participate at Vietnam International Competition for Violin and Chamber Music and at Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition. In 2013, she was awarded a special prize as the youngest Croatian competitor on the ‘International Vaclav Huml Competition”, which established her as one of the most promising young Croatian violinists. She won her first prize at the age of nine in the Violinisti Giovanni Violin Competition (Italy). Since then, she has been a prize winner in numerous competitions, including Young Paganini International Violin Competition, Flame Competition, Concours Bravo, Petar Konjovich International Competition and the Stockholm International Music Competition.

Carolina has been interviewed and performed on Croatian Radio Television, with features in various programmes including Day by Day, Good Morning Croatia, News of Culture, Good Morning: The Culture. 

Carolina plays on a Collin - Mezin violin kindly loaned by the Harrison - Frank Family Foundation. She also regularly performs on fine violins loaned to her by the Florian Leonhard Fine Violins. 




Born in Belgium in 1997, cellist Johannes Bogaert took up his instrument at the age of six. In 2012 he became a private pupil of Justus Grimm, before joining his class at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in 2015. While studying there he received chamber music coaching from Eliane Rodrigues, Rudolf Werthen and Sergei Edelmann amongst others. He was also selected in projects such as deOrkestacademie, in collaboration with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. After finishing his Bachelor’s degree with distinction in Antwerp, Johannes became a private pupil of Pavel Gomziakov in Lisbon, where he also received coaching from Levon Mouradian.

Throughout his education, Johannes participated in several masterclasses and received musical advice from cellists such as Martin Löhr, Alexander Buzlov, Gregor Horsch, Danjulo Ishizaka, Kyril Zlotnikov and Pieter Wispelwey.

Chamber music has long been an active interest of Johannes and he has had various chamber music masterclasses with professors like Natalia Tchitch, Kathrin Ter Hagen, Miri Yampolsky, Isabel Charisius (ex-Alban Berg Quartet) and Diana Ketler.

He has participated in several music courses, such as the Kammermusikkurs für Junge Instrumentalisten from Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland in Weikersheim, the Recontres Musicales Internationales des Graves in Bordeaux, the Euro Arts Music Festival and Academy in Halle, the Meisterkurs KONTUREN in Brühl, and Verão Clássico in Lisbon.

In solo playing as well as chamber music, he has performed in Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Portugal.

Johannes is currently studying with Richard Lester at the Royal College of Music in London for a Master of Performance as a Lucy Ann Jones scholar.




Danilo Mascetti is an Italian pianist, the Carne Trust Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music of London. He is the winner of the 2nd prize, best Baroque and best Classical prizes at the prestigious UNISA International Piano Competition 2020, South Africa. He is also part of the Talent Unlimited Scheme and a Live Music Now musician.

He regularly performs as a soloist all over Europe, with orchestras such us Pomeriggi Musicali, Thessaloniki State Orchestra, Symphonic State Orchestra of Craiova. From 2014 he performs in China and Japan, debuts in London, Prague, Rome, Russia, USA and North Africa, with orchestras such as the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra Hradec Králové, the Nova Amadeus orchestra, the NYCA Symphony Orchestra, performing for Kyoto International Music Students Festival, Aspect Foundation for Music and Arts, New York Concert Artists. 

During this last season he performs with orchestras such as ASF Orchestra and UniMilanoB Orchestra, Philarmonic Orchestra of Bacau and RCM Chamber Orchestra. He very recently debuted in Slovenia at the Presidential Palace for the current President B. Pahor, and debuted with the Johannesburg Philarmonic Orchestra in Pretoria. 

He studied with Vincenzo Balzani, Natalia Trull and Vsevolod Dvorkin, and he is currently student of Vanessa Latarche and Gordon Fergus – Thompson. Besides the most recent prize, he gained international reputation becoming laureate of competitions such as “Princesse Lalla Meryem” in Rabat, “Gyorgios Thymis”in Greece, “Chopin” in Rome, “Pianotalents”, “E. Pozzoli” in Seregno, “F.Liszt” in Grottamare. 

During his studies he was supported by C. Bechstein, the Ann Driver Trust, the Music Talks Award, the INPDAD Italian awards. Involved from an early age with his parents and his family in the care of foster children, Danilo Mascetti has worked since 2015 with non-profit organizations of Lombardy becoming co-founder and Artistic Director of Arte Solidale Festival (Lake Como); all the proceeds from this festival go to help minors in need.
