SATURDAY FRONT OF HOUSE & EVENTS MANAGER 

7 hours per week (Sat 10am - 5pm)

Salary: £11 p/h (£4004 per annum)

The successful candidate will play a vital part in each visitor's experience. You will be expected to deliver a truly memorable level of customer service, proactively engaging with all visitors to ensure that they feel welcome and valued. A key part of your role will be to maximise revenue opportunities by encouraging visitors to purchase tickets to our events, buy books and merchandise, and sign up to our membership scheme. You will be the host of the house and look after our visitors as well as private hire guests, making them want to return.


During quiet times you will be editing videos of our events for ‘watch on demand’ and archival purposes so knowledge, interest and experience in video editing is essential.


The ideal candidate will be punctual, enthusiastic, self-motivated and have the ability to multitask. They will be confident in setting up technical equipment (projectors, microphones, presentations) and not afraid of physical work. The job involves lifting and moving furniture and equipment, so having a good level of physical fitness (enough to feel comfortable spending a few hours a day setting up/clearing up around events) is essential. 


At the end of your shift you will need to safely lock the building, making sure the fire safety protocols are followed. 

 

JOB OBJECTIVES

 

  1. Providing a warm, vibrant welcome to all visitors, creating a positive first impression of Pushkin House.

  2. Clerical and admin duties (answering the telephone, general email enquiries and sorting out mail and deliveries).

  3. Making all practical and technical arrangements for Pushkin House events (public and private), with the aim of contributing to improved visitor experience and increased income. This includes setting for exhibitions, private and public events, as well as trouble-shooting.

  4. Filming events for archival purposes and promotional videos. 

  5. Editing recorded footage for marketing, ‘watch on demand’ and archival purposes.

  6. Keeping the shop and the reception area well-presented.

  7. Taking cash and card payments (in person and over the phone) and completing daily records.

  8. Maintaining health and safety standards in Pushkin House.

  9. Safely locking up the building at the end of your shift.

  10. Other duties as occasionally required by the Senior Operations manager, Curator and the Executive Director.

  • Russian language skills
