Nika Shirocorad Family Concert: The Fairytale World Of Hans Christian Andersen

This is the second in a series of family concerts by Nika Shirocorad at Pushkin House this autumn. More than just a piano recital, the event will focus on the close connection between music and the visual arts; it is an educational event, opening the doors to the world of classical music and designed to appeal to both adults and children alike. The language of the event will be Russian.

This evening's concert is a piano music journey through the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, and the programme will include works by, among others, Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Boccherini.

Parents can sit back and become absorbed in the music, and younger listeners can benefit from Nika's lively introduction to each piece, encouraging members of the audience - young and old - to engage with, explore and be inspired by different aspects and emotions of the classical repertoire.

As a pianist and an artist, Nika is fascinated by the connection between the two forms and will bring her own work to complement the music being played. For children it is a means of bringing the tunes to life, and demonstrates the live, symbiotic relationship between music and art.

Please bring with you paper and coloured pencils so that your children can draw while they listen to the music.
