LAUNCH of constructivist moscow map

This dual language guide features over 50 remarkable examples of Constructivist architecture from celebrated architects and engineers such as Melnikov, Ginzburg, Shukhov, the Vesnin brothers and others. Buildings such as Melnikov House and Narkomfin are included along with Shukhov Tower and the Izvestia Building. Details for each structure include the location, years built, and architects responsible, along with photographs by Melikova.

Melikova and Vassiliev say in the guide’s introduction: “The Russian avant-garde was one of the most intense and creative art and architecture movements of the 20th century.

“The range of building types of Russian avant-garde architecture was vast and diverse and included office and administrative buildings, schools and institutes, garages, workers’ clubs, bathhouses, industrial canteens, residential quarters and experiments in communal housing. This map highlights over 50 of the most influential examples.”

The Constructivist Moscow Map is designed to celebrate the value of these buildings and to inspire further consideration of Moscow’s avant-garde architecture today.

Melikova will show her photographs and say something about the present state of Moscow's constructivist legacy.

Constructivist Moscow Map is Blue Crow Media's third architecture map, following Brutalist London Map and Art Deco London Map.
