Richard McKane
(1947 - 2016)
Richard co-chaired the Pushkin Club for many years. He was a poet in his own right, and brought his poetic sensibility to translation. He remains an important figure in introducing several great Russian poets to the western world. He is known in particular for his translations of Akhmatova and Mandelstam. Richard is also known for his compassionate and dedicated work with Survivors' Poetry, English PEN and his translating at the Medical Foundation for the Victims of Torture.
